Show Your Power

I think at times we make life more complicated than it is. When I say to people " show your power", they look at me as if I want them to perform some extraordinary feat that only TV superheroes can do. But in reality all I am asking them to do is to "be all that they can be." I want them to first acknowledge that they have power, which they show each and every day in their actions, conversations, and reflections. Then I want them to realize that there is a wealth of power within them waiting to be tapped.

I am constantly amazed at the conversations that I have with young people aged 3-8. "I want to be a doctor so that I can help people in my country that can't afford the care of a doctor", says eight- year old Jose who spoke to me in Spanish. No I do not speak Spanish; I had a translator by the name of Iris who was also eight and learned English that year. Here I was in the midst of two eight year olds who were undoubtedly tapping into their power. I was in awe of what was possible at such a young age. But then I realized that when you look through a child's eyes, there are no limits to what can be, everything is possible.

At what point in life did we start breathing in limitations and breathing out stunted movements? When was the exact moment in time we began to befriend fear and betray courage? Yes, life can be very intimidating at times, but who makes it that way. The only way something can be intimidating to us is if we perceive it that way. It is our perceptions in life that generates our personal reality. Do you want your life to be filled with "what could have been", or with "what is".

I don't know about you, but I am ready to show my power each and every day in whatever way is possible for that day. I am ready to tap and unleash power today that I did not display yesterday. And if I approach times where I am dining with my friends "fear", "doubt", and "worry" more often than I like, then I will take a trip to a local school and interact with our young people of the world, so that I can be reminded that all is possible.

Don't wait for tomorrow, join me in the campaign, and show your power today!

Take care and remember to live life with passion, purpose, power, and peace,
Chinwe
